Trucking Industry Defense Association presents FOUR grants to schools this fall

Niles, Ill., October 12, 2010—The Trucking Industry Defense Association (TIDA) is pleased to announce that its Endowment Committee, has awarded four Grants in the amount of $5,000 each to the University of North-Texas, the University of Central Arkansas, the University of Memphis and Ohio-based Cuyahoga Community College (Tri-C).

The grants will allow the schools to increase their financial commitment to students pursuing careers within the trucking industry.

“We are very proud to present these grants to four esteemed schools this year,” said Endowment Committee Chairman Paul Berne. “After rigorously reviewing applications, we believe they have curriculum that are well-aligned with TIDA’s vision and goals.”

With a membership of more than 1,600 trucking professionals, TIDA is a national organization whose members include motor carriers, transportation logistics companies, insurers of motor carriers, third party claims administrators and trucking defense counsel. As TIDA’s President Lee Piovarcy likes to say, “Our organization is the driving force of knowledge and resources of the trucking industry.”

TIDA’s 18th Annual Industry Seminar will be held Nov. 8-10 at the Hyatt Regency Grand Cypress Hotel in Orlando, Fla. It will feature industry-specific seminars and breakout sessions where small groups will discuss issues of major importance to the trucking industry.

Also, for the first time, TIDA is offering members, spouses, and guests an opportunity to volunteer for Give Kids The World Village, (GKTW) a 70-acre non-profit resort in Central Florida that creates magical memories for children with life-threatening illnesses. TIDA will be packing colorful gift boxes for families that contain photo albums, disposable cameras, games, cards, and the like.
