City of Rocklin Professional Achieves Rare ASE Certification Status

Rocklin, CA June 10, 2010 – The City of Rocklin is proud to announce that Russ French has achieved an honor held by only three individuals worldwide by passing every certification test offered by the National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence (ASE). Russ has been a Rocklin city employee for three years and works for General Services in the Fleet Division as Senior Equipment Mechanic. He is a key member of the service team, providing accurate, reliable vehicle maintenance and repair to fleet vehicles.

Russ French achieved ASE Master Technician certification in seven ASE categories by passing 53 tests in the areas of auto and light trucks, medium and heavy trucks, engine machinist, collision repair and refinish, truck equipment, transit bus, and school bus. French joins the ranks of the best automotive technicians in the world, an achievement even more amazing considering that he took his first ASE test in 2005.

The City of Rocklin is proud of Russ’ achievement and of all of our ASE certified professionals, who work each day to provide the highest quality services to our municipal vehicle fleet in Rocklin.

Russ and his wife Christy have four grown daughters and seven grandchildren. Russ has had a successful career of more that 30 years in Fleet Services in the US and abroad. He enjoys cooking, swimming and motorsports, and is a member of the Masonic Eureka Lodge No 16 in Auburn, CA.

Russ is currently enrolled in the Certified Automotive Fleet Mangers Program of The National Association of Fleet Administrators (NAFA). In less than a year he has completed and passed four of the eight core disciplines to become a Certified Automotive Fleet Manager.

ASE was founded in 1972 as a non-profit, independent organization dedicated to improving the quality of automotive service and repair through the voluntary testing and certification of automotive technicians. Technicians, engine machinists, and parts specialists have participated in ASE programs from all segments of the service and repair industry. Today, nearly 400,000 professionals are ASE-certified.

The City of Rocklin was incorporated in 1893 and has a rich history. In 1910, 22 quarries operated in Rocklin and, in 1912, nearly 2,000 train carloads of granite were sent out of town. Granite for the state capitol and many of the buildings in San Francisco came from Rocklin’s quarries. Today, Rocklin granite is as popular as ever, finding its way to kitchen counters and monument signs throughout the region. Today, Rocklin is nearly 20 square miles and has a population of 54, 754 residents.
