Salt Lake City Airport Automates Fleet Management, Slashes Staff Work Load by More than 90 Percent

CHANTILLY, VA, March 21, 2011 - Salt Lake City International Airport (SLC), the 25th busiest airport in the U.S., recently implemented a web-based motor pool management technology to manage its fleet of airport vehicles.  The move enabled the airport to cut the workload associated with vehicle management by more than 90% of efforts required previously of personnel, while still maintaining high levels of security.  The announcement was made today by Agile Access Control, Inc. (Agile), creator of Agile FleetCommander, the web-browser based fleet and motor pool management application now in place at SLC.

Fewer than 90 days after being selected, the technology was installed, legacy data was imported, the system was customized, training was completed, and the system went live, according to Agile.  Authorized airport staff now are able to securely access vehicles via a full-color, touch-screen motor pool kiosk and an automated key box which keeps keys secure around the clock.

With security being a top priority in airport environments, FleetCommander technology offered Salt Lake City International Airport the ability to closely monitor and control access to vehicles without sacrificing efficiency.  Airport Information Technology Manager Lisa Oldham says, "The FleetCommander product was exactly what was needed.  We now have a fully automated motor pool that is secure and provides complete accountability for access to vehicles.  Even better is the fact that we have all of the data and reporting capabilities we need to fully understand how our fleet is being used."

The self-service nature of the technology, ease-of-use, and ease-of-implementation were key points giving FleetCommander an advantage during the airport's vendor selection process, according to Oldham.  The airport leverages several of the powerful features of FleetCommander to meet their objectives, including:

·       The Grab-and-Go function allows authorized individuals to make a vehicle reservation in real-time at the motor pool kiosk and instantly dispatch themselves out and dispatch themselves in.
·       The Manual-Assign capability allows users with sufficient privileges to select and reserve a specific vehicle for their request in the future.  They can then pick up the keys at the self-service kiosk at the designated time.
·       Automatic policy enforcement ensures that each driver is aware of fleet policies and is only allowed to access authorized motor pool functions and motor pool vehicles.

Matthew Wade, V.P. of sales and marketing at Agile, says, "We're really happy to be working with Salt Lake City International Airport.  They completed their software and hardware installation without any on-site assistance from Agile's implementation team and had the system up and running without a hitch.  It says a lot about the technological prowess of the airport staff and the thought and detail our staff has put into FleetCommander."
