Webinar Will Discuss Legislation Trends and Proposed Electronic Onboard Recorder Mandate

BELLEVUE, Wash., March 14, 2011 — PACCAR Leasing (PacLease) and PeopleNet will hold a webinar on Thursday, March 24 at 8 a.m. PDT to discuss proposed regulations and mandates for electronic onboard recorders (EOBRs) unveiled by The Department of Transportation’s Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA).

The educational webinar will outline the proposed federal regulations, which currently mandate the installation of EOBRs for monitoring drivers’ Hours-of-Service (HOS) for nearly all commercial trucks.  These regulations would go into effect three years following publication of the “final rule.”  If these regulations go into effect, private fleet safety and compliance will improve through detailed recording of driver trip information, including vehicle location updates and driver violation reporting such as speeding and falsifying driver records.

EOBR technology can also save fleets time and money by reducing the resources necessary to handle driver trip record information and paperwork.  Two case studies will be discussed during the webinar to showcase the benefits of using EOBR technology in private fleets.

Industry expert Jim Angel, PeopleNet Safety, Security and Compliance Manager will provide an HOS Mandate update, information on how EOBRs can help private fleets meet and comply with regulations, and tips on reducing costs and improving ROI.

Jim Angel is a Certified Transportation Professional with over 20 years of truckload, LTL, distribution, intermodal and private fleet management experience.  Jim has successfully reduced running costs and increased inbound revenue at multiple private fleets.  As an instructor with the NPTC Fleet Institute, Angel stays abreast with current issues, trends and solutions with private fleet managers.

There is no cost for the webinar. To register, visit the PacLease website at www.paclease.com/webinars.asp.
