WASHINGTON
(October 2, 2012) — The Propane
Education & Research Council (PERC) will share on October 2-3 the green and
economic benefits of propane autogas for vehicle fleets at the Green Fleet
Conference & Expo at the Renaissance Schaumburg Convention Center Hotel.
A highlight of the show will be PERC’s
presenting Go Airport Express with its Propane Autogas Fleet Award. Go Airport
Express operates 30 Roush CleanTech Ford E-350 propane-autogas-fueled vans
between Chicago’s downtown hotels and its airports, saving money on fuel and
giving passengers green rides. Go Airport Express began as a carriage service
in 1853.
“Go
Airport Express is pleased to use propane autogas to fuel its vans,” Robert
Hann, vice president of marketing, Go Airport Express, said. “Propane autogas
lowers our operating costs, emits fewer pollutants, and provides a great ride
for our customers. Thank you, PERC, for honoring Go Airport Express with the
Propane Autogas Fleet award.”
Propane autogas vehicles emit up to 60
percent less carbon monoxide than gas-powered vehicles, while costing less to
operate and providing the same horsepower, torque, towing, and range. And
propane autogas fueling stations typically cost considerably less to install
and operate than other alternative fuel stations and require minimal
installation time. About 90 percent of all propane autogas consumed in the United
States is made in America.
“Propane autogas is an ideal alternative fuel
for fleet managers seeking to lower their refueling costs while also meeting their
environmental goals,” PERC President and CEO Roy Willis said.
PERC
will be in booth 112 displaying a number of propane-fueled vehicles including a
Go Airport Express Ford E-350 shuttle van, a GM 4500 Cutaway truck, and a Chevy
Suburban, along with a 2011 EnviroGard commercial lawn mower.
On October 3 at 8 a.m., Michael Taylor,
PERC’s director of autogas business development, will present the Propane
Autogas Fleet Award to Go Airport Express. At 10 a.m., Mike will moderate a
panel on implementing propane autogas into fleet operations with Ed Brand of
CleanFuel USA, Todd Mouw of Roush CleanTech, and Ralph Perpetuini of Icom North
America.
Go
Airport Express and Roush CleanTech have partnered to offer Green Fleet
Conference attendees a $40 round trip in its E-350 vans between the show and
Chicago O’Hare International Airport, a savings of about $80 compared with a
cab ride.
PERC is a supporter of
research and development efforts that bring to market propane-autogas-fueled
vehicles that municipalities, school districts, companies, and others
nationwide are integrating into their fleets. PERC's research and development
mission invests in new technologies and fosters industry practices that bring
innovative products and services to customers, improve the economic vitality of
the industry, and provide greater value to propane consumers.
