Association of Diesel Specialists 2010 – 2012 Leadership Takes Over the Reins

Kansas City, Mo. – August 9, 2010 – Chuck Hess, Vice President of H.G. Makelim Co, was recently elected president of the Association of Diesel Specialist (ADS). He began his term August 4 during the 2010 ADS International Convention & Tradeshow.

Chuck Hess is vice president of H.G. Makelim Co. (San Francisco), a leading provider of power products throughout the western United States. H.G. Makelim Co. distributes industrial engines, diesel fuel injection systems, test equipment, rotating electrical products, turbochargers and generator sets. Started in San Francisco in 1922 by Howard G. Makelim as a magneto repair shop, the company was purchased by Robert Hess (Chuck’s father) and Jim Hess (Chuck’s brother) in 1956. Over the course of Hess’s 40-year career, he has held various board positions for several trade associations and has served as treasurer of the Association of Diesel Specialists since 2006. He received a BSC degree in marketing from Santa Clara University in 1973.

Other ADS officers include some of the industry’s leading diesel specialists, Andy Girres (ADS vice president) owner of Diesel Specialties Inc. in Sioux City, Iowa; Carl Fergueson (ADS secretary) general manager of the Taylor Diesel Group in Nashville, Tenn.; Chuck Oliveros (ADS treasurer) President of Williams Diesel Service, Inc. in Ocala, Fla.

The ADS Board Officers are joined by the 16 ADS Board Directors who include: Anita Barlow, Diesel Injection Service Inc. in Madison, Wisc.; Mike Baer, Associated Fuel Injection, Inc. in Modesto, Calif.; Ricardo Berrueta, Berrueta Diesel Parts in Guadalajara, Jalisco, Mexico; Franklin Chu, Electro Inyección Diesel Chú S.A. in Panama City, Panama; Tom Folmar, Southeast Power Systems in Orlando, Fla.; Jerry Harris, Diesel Equipment Company in Greensboro, N.C.; Diane Kenny, DENSO Sales California, Inc. in Long Beach, Calif.; Peter Malo, Stanadyne Corporation in Windsor, Conn.; Cam Mandel, Hydraulic Injection in Taber, Alberta, Canada; Paul Marek, Superior Turbo & Injection in Detroit, Mich.; Bryan Menke, R&R Engine and Machine in Akron, Ohio; Thomas Miles, BorgWarner Turbo & Emissions Systems in Asheville, N.C.; Tom Novak, Robert Bosch LLC in Broadview, Ill.; Ken O’Brien, Cadel in Mississauga, Ontario, Canada; Geoff Pearcey, Diesel Injection Sales & Service Ltd. in St. John’s, Newfoundland, Canada; Steve Rash, Diesel Services, Inc. in Grand Junction, Colo.

The ADS Board of Directors will guide the association through its various programs that assist diesel specialist members. Programs include meetings, training and education, business support and more. The association also assists its members by providing a network of support for personal and professional growth.
