IBTTA Releases Agenda, Speakers for 81st Annual Meeting & Exhibition, September 22-25 in Vancouver, BC

WASHINGTON, DC – The International Bridge, Tunnel and Turnpike Association (IBTTA) – the worldwide association representing toll facility owners and operators and businesses that serve them, today announced the full agenda and list of speakers for their 81st Annual Meeting to be held September 22 – 25 in Vancouver, British Columbia. This year’s 2013 meeting, Moving Smarter:  How Tolling Meets the Challenge, will feature a keynote address from Daniel Sieberg, Head of Media Outreach for Google, and special presentation from Bryan Norcross, Senior Hurricane Specialist for The Weather Channel.

As dramatic changes continue to take place in the world of transportation, IBTTA’s 81st Annual Meeting will focus on professional development and offer educational breakout sessions focused on the newest advancements in the tolling industry. From All-Electronic Tolling and interoperability to the proliferation of public-private partnerships (P3) and severe weather preparedness, IBTTA’s meeting offers transportation professionals from around the globe an opportunity to engage colleagues and learn about the latest industry trends.

“If you are a professional in the transportation industry, you will want to be in Vancouver September 22 through the 25,” said Pat Jones, IBTTA’s Executive Director and CEO. “The IBTTA Annual Meeting is where transportation experts on the front lines from across the globe come together in a mix of general sessions, breakout panels and one-on-one conversations to help prepare industry leaders for the future challenges on the horizon.”

“Vancouver is the perfect place to meet,” stated Rob Horr, President, IBTTA and Executive Director of the Thousand Islands Bridge Authority in New York. “The city is an efficient, increasingly integrated transportation system that stands as a model for other communities around the globe.”

The Port Mann Bridge, the second-longest cable-stayed bridge in North America and the widest bridge in the world, opened as a toll facility on December 1, 2012. The Province of British Columbia’s Gateway Program is an integrated effort to reduce congestion and auto emissions, boost safety and reliability, and move people, goods, and transit more efficiently through the Metro Vancouver region. The Canada Line, Vancouver’s third rapid transit line, opened in August 2009 and connects the downtown core with Vancouver Airport and the suburban city of Richmond. Reliable, efficient transportation is a centerpiece of Vancouver’s effort to position itself as the world’s most sustainable city by 2020.

IBTTA’s 81st Annual Meeting and Exhibition is hosted by the Transportation Investment Corporation (TI Corp), British Columbia’s Crown Corporation responsible for the Port Mann/Highway 1 Improvement Project.
