ALPHARETTA, Ga. (April 28, 2011) – LeasePlan USA, the
premium service provider of vehicle leasing and fleet management solutions,
sponsored Ferris State University (FSU) student, Bob Moorhead and Georgian
College student, Michael Piccinin, at this year’s NAFA Institute & Expo
(I&E) as part of NAFA Fleet Management Association’s student sponsorship
program.
The program began at the 2010 I&E in Detroit.
“Because LeasePlan is committed to the professional
development of our employees, we were excited to share our industry expertise
with students through this sponsorship program. An opportunity to promote and
encourage a career in fleet is one that we are eager to take because we are
looking for the next generation of premium service providers,” said Jon J.
Toups, chief sales & marketing officer.
During the I&E, each student was assigned a mentor
from one of the sponsoring companies. The students were given the opportunity
to learn about the company’s products and services and work with their mentor
on the Expo floor. In addition, the students served as class monitors during
the educational sessions, which provided them with a unique educational look
into the world of fleet management.
“LeasePlan has provided me with a great opportunity
through their sponsorship. I would not have been able to attend this convention
without their generous funding. Working with the LeasePlan team has been a
great experience in helping me build on my professional skills,” said Moorhead
about his experience at the NAFA I&E.
Piccinin agreed with Moorhead and said, “LeasePlan,
through its great generosity and sponsorship, have opened my eyes to the fleet
industry and have provided me with an experience that will last a lifetime.
From the moment I was introduced to the LeasePlan team they made me feel
welcome and like part of the team.”
Many of the students that took part in this program are
studying to become fleet professionals and are enrolled full-time at The Center
for Professional Fleet Certification partner schools in the U.S. and Canada.
FSU was the first school to develop and formalize a
relationship with NAFA.
Since the program’s inception last year, it has grown to
include Ranken Technical College and Georgian University as well.
