VANCOUVER, B.C., May 12, 2011 – As part of its ongoing commitment to sustainable, green living and the environment, Xantrex Technology USA Inc., a subsidiary of Schneider Electric, has recently supported select projects that promote these causes.
Students of Thayer School of Engineering at Dartmouth, Hanover, NH developed a comprehensive energy metrics system for the Big Green Bus, a summer touring vehicle used by students to educate people about sustainable living practices. The bus is powered by solar panels and waste vegetable oil, and features Xantrex™ products including inverter/charger system and battery monitor.
"Xantrex products and support have been and continue to be vital to both mechanical and educational operations of the Big Green Bus,” said Jules Valenti of the Big Green Bus project. “The Big Green Bus project strives to both advocate and demonstrate energy saving strategies. We have created a self-sustaining onboard power system using our Xantrex power components. During educational events, we can use data on total energy consumption collected by Xantrex’s recently donated LinkPRO battery monitor.”
Another Xantrex-sponsored initiative supports 2B Enterprises’ ‘America the Sustainable’ project which focuses on the importance of environmental stewardship and the preservation of natural resources. The Xantrex Freedom SW 3000 Power System is being used on the organization’s GREEN RV which serves as the traveling platform to educate the public about the benefits of green lifestyle.
“As we move across the US gathering and spreading information on sustainable living, one of our many goals is to promote the concept of sustainable and conscious energy use,” said Byron Banghart of 2B Enterprises. “Xantrex has provided much needed support to our project and by using their Freedom SW 3000, we have a system that will afford us the flexibility and freedom to achieve our goals.”
"Working with Xantrex on our ‘America the Sustainable’ project has been highlighted by their professional and enthusiastic commitment,” added Banghart. “Their customer support has gone above and beyond in helping us make our project a reality. Every time we produce a video or charge our sensitive electronic equipment, it will be thanks to Xantrex product. The use of their power system including the Freedom SW 3000 and LinkPRO battery monitor provides critical information on battery use, capacity, and charge input. Xantrex's support of this project shows its dedication to providing solutions to modern man's energy needs."
Added Xantrex General Manager Richard Gaudet, “We are very pleased to partner with worthwhile organizations such as 2B Enterprises and members of the Big Green Bus project who are committed to showing communities how to conserve energy. We believe in giving back and supporting projects that help to make a difference, and we’re proud to play our own small part in helping to create a better, cleaner planet.”
