(CARSON CITY, NEV.) – Governor Brian Sandoval today announced he has appointed Tom Skancke to the Nevada Department of Transportation Board of Directors. Skancke’s term begins January 1, 2014.
“Tom is recognized as a leader on transportation issues, particularly in Southern Nevada,” Governor Brian Sandoval said. “Combined with his economic development perspective, Tom is uniquely qualified to represent Clark County on the Transportation Board and I am pleased he has agreed to serve in this role.”
Senate Bill 322, passed during the 2013 Legislative session, removes the Attorney General from the board and adds a member from Clark County.
Currently the President and CEO of the Las Vegas Global Economic Alliance, Skancke previously served as President and CEO of The Skancke Company. He has been the lead advisor on hundreds of transportation infrastructure projects, and is widely recognized as one of the top transportation strategists in the United States. In 2005, U.S. Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-NV) appointed Skancke to the National Surface Transportation Policy and Revenue Study Commission, and Skancke co-authored a landmark document that made recommendations to Congress on policy, funding, and infrastructure for the next 50 years. He also played a key role in the past three surface transportation reauthorization bills.
