Universal Lubricants Sells Four Branches of its Subsidiary RS Used Oil Services to Heritage-Crystal Clean

WICHITA, KS. (November 1, 2013) – Universal Lubricants®, a recognized leader in environmental services and the manufacturing and distribution of quality proprietary lubricants, today announced that is has closed an asset purchase agreement to sell four RS Used Oil Services locations to Heritage-Crystal Clean LLC.  RS Used Oil Services is a subsidiary of Universal Lubricants.

The divested operations, located in Monee and Spring Grove, Ill., Carmel, Ind., and in Middletown, Ohio, provide used oil collection, and wastewater and solid waste removal services.  Universal Lubricants will retain its presence in these areas for new oil and lubricant sales and to manage large national accounts.  It also continues to provide used oil collection and environmental services through both Universal Lubricants and RS Used Oil Services across the Midwest, including the St. Louis area, and Southern United States.

Universal Lubricants’ CEO Jan Horsfall said the decision to divest the RS Used Oil assets came after a strategic review of all 36 company facilities located across the U.S.

“Universal Lubricants’ future is bright,” said Horsfall. “This move will allow us to focus on our primary geographic markets, which are in closer proximity to our state-of-the-art re-refinery in Wichita, Kansas. We will retain and grow our remaining 32 facilities throughout our Southern and Midwest regions, and build on our recent expansions in Texas and Louisiana.”
Elgin, Ill.- based Heritage-Crystal Clean, which operates an oil re-refinery in Indianapolis, Indiana and is a provider of parts cleaning and waste services, plans to retain RS Used Oil Services employees to maintain the continuity of the business.
