•         Car of the Year: McLaren MP4-12C
•         Dynamics Team of the Year: McLaren Automotive
•         Dynamicist of the Year: Jürgen Pützschler, Ford
•         Innovation of the Year: Electric hydraulic combi brake – Continental
•         Development Tool of the Year: Driving simulator – Mercedes-Benz/Moog
•         Supplier of the Year: Tenneco

The winners of the Vehicle Dynamics International Awards have today been announced, with McLaren Automotive scooping two prestigious Awards in the year that it launched its eagerly awaited new MP4-12C supercar. The MP4-12C was judged to be the winner of the prestigious Car of the Year Award, while the McLaren Automotive dynamics team won the Dynamics Team of the Year Award for its work on the car.

Also worthy of particular note is Jürgen Pützschler of Ford, who scooped the highly prized award for Dynamicist of the Year title, in recognition of his work as the vehicle dynamics supervisor for the new global C-Car platform, which includes Focus and C-MAX.

"It's been another fascinating year of development, and the judging by our independent panel of experts has been as tough as ever," said Graham Heeps, Editor of Vehicle Dynamics International magazine. "The world was waiting to see how the new McLaren MP4-12C would shape-up at the pinnacle of what the automotive industry has to offer, and it hasn't disappointed. The team in Woking should be enormously proud."

Accepting the award was Mark Vinnels, program director at McLaren Automotive, who said: "This is an important award for us. Not only is it our first car of the year title, but it's in recognition of everything we have put into this car: an obsession with reducing weight, a commitment to using carbon fibre in a revolutionary way, and a thorough understanding of the best ways to integrate our Formula 1 expertise."

Speaking of Jürgen Pützschler's Award for Dynamicist of the Year, Heeps said: "Ford's new C-Car platform will spawn a dozen vehicles, from MPVs to performance cars, and with a high degree of commonality between them. It can be a thankless task to serve so many masters, but on the evidence of the Focus and C-MAX, Pützschler has done a remarkable job."

Other Category award winners include Mercedes Benz and Moog, for their combined work on an outstanding driving simulator, which won Development Tool of the Year; Continental, which won the Innovation of the Year Award for its Electric hydraulic combi brake; and Tenneco, which supplies crucial technology to the McLaren't suspension, and was rewarded with the accolade of Supplier of the Year.
