PHOENIX (April 15, 2011) – NADA University has launched a new social networking community site focused on helping the next generation of commercial truck dealers make a smooth transition when it's their time to run the business.
The initiative, called the NextGen ATD Community, kicks off today at the American Truck Dealers (ATD) Convention and Expo in Phoenix, which runs April 15-18.
"Many truck dealers are baby boomers nearing retirement, so it's essential the next generation is ready to go when the baton is passed," said Kyle Treadway, ATD chairman. "This new communications tool gives those future dealers a valuable opportunity to share information with their peers, engage in an ongoing dialogue and generate ideas on a 24/7 basis that will help them to make a smooth transition."
The NextGen ATD Community offers web access to discussion groups and topical videos on issues of interest to the group in a private environment.
"We're looking to NextGen ATD to become more comfortable about stepping off the sidelines and getting into the game," said Tucker Morgan of Kenworth Sales Company in West Valley City, Utah.
DrivingSales.com, the innovative social network created by new NADA University Partner trainer Jared Hamilton, is providing the online platform for the NextGen ATD Community.
Hamilton, a former auto dealership manager and now a leading industry expert in social media strategies, is also teaming with NADA University on the upcoming launch of social networking communities for the NADA-ATD Academy (launching in May) and NADA-ATD 20 Group (launching in June).
ATD members and NADA-ATD Academy graduates in dealership management positions are encouraged to join the NextGen ATD network. To sign up or for more information, contact ATD@nada.org.
