WARRENVILLE, Ill – April 4, 2011 – eStar™, the all-electric truck by Navistar, is a Gold Sponsor of the fourth annual FORTUNE Brainstorm GREEN beginning today and running through April 6, 2011 in Laguna Niguel, CA. The attendees, including more than 300 of the nation's leading green thinkers, will learn about eStar's purpose-built design the vehicles' zero tailpipe emissions and how the technology is leading the commercial Electric Vehicle industry.
"For decades, Navistar has demonstrated a commitment to technologies that benefit the environment and our customers, which is why eStar was created and is a natural fit for Brainstorm GREEN," said Mark Aubry, vice president sales and marketing electric vehicles, Navistar. "This event is an opportunity to reach C-suite thought leaders and show them why eStar is such an exciting product with potential to revolutionize the industry and transform thinking when it comes to clean, efficient transportation."
Capable of carrying payloads up to two tons, the eStar medium-duty truck offers features such as a low center of gravity (the battery is between the frame rails, not mounted on top), walk-through cab and a cassette-type battery which allows ease of maintenance and is the perfect design for around-the-clock operation. With zero tailpipe emissions, each eStar truck can potentially reduce greenhouse gas emissions by as much as 10 tons annually.
The Brainstorm GREEN program is led by members of FORTUNE's editorial staff, and focused on emerging environmental trends as well as innovative ways that companies can drive sustainability-based transformational change initiatives. Participants include CEOs and senior executives of Fortune 500 companies, government policymakers, leading thinkers, investors and environmental activists.
About eStar™
The eStar transitioned from concept to reality in August 2009, when President Barack Obama visited Navistar's manufacturing plant in Indiana to announce $39.2 million in American Recovery and Reinvestment Act funds from the Transportation Electrification Initiative administered by the U.S. Department of Energy.
