Colorado Springs and Mountain Metro Take Advantage of Integrated Transit Enterprise System from AssetWorks and Trapeze Group

(Wayne, PA –– September 7, 2010) AssetWorks, a leading provider of fleet management software and automated fuel management systems, today announced that long-time customer the City of Colorado Springs, CO has upgraded to the browser-based version of FleetFocus. Additionally, Colorado Springs Mountain Metropolitan Transit Authority (Mountain Metro) is joining the city in using the single database to manage all fleet maintenance operations. The City Fleet Management Division and Mountain Metro can now take advantage of the built-in integration between maintenance, operations and ITS technology offered by AssetWorks and Trapeze Group.

“We have used AssetWorks products for over twenty years and make use of nearly all its functionality, including real-time labor capture, fuel and billing. The system is intuitive and easy for both the technicians on the shop floor and management using reports,” states Tom Monarco, Fleet Manager, City of Colorado Springs. “By joining Mountain Metropolitan Transit in the upgrade to the browser-based version of FleetFocus, both the city and the transit can use the same system and view the same data. Now that we’ll be on the same system, we anticipate that it can help improve our efficiency in taking care of the vehicles that service the citizens of Colorado Springs.”

This integrated AssetWorks and Trapeze solution can help the City of Colorado Springs and Mountain Metro in the following ways:

• Improved Vehicle Availability – FleetFocus tracks all maintenance activities for vehicles and equipment from cradle to grave, including real-time updates of meter readings and repair status. Changes made in the system are automatically communicated to the Trapeze transit enterprise systems which helps them meet both service and maintenance requirements through a constantly updated inventory.

• Streamlined Service Requests/Incident Reporting - The timely reporting of service requests and incidents can help the agencies expedite their maintenance processes. Operators now have a way to create service/incident requests both during the vehicle inspection and while the vehicle is in service. The integrated AssetWorks and Trapeze solution allows information to flow from the vehicle into the operations management system which then automatically alerts and updates the fleet management system in real-time. This tight integration can save Mountain Metro time and reduce the errors that can occur with manual paper-based reporting procedures.

• Consolidation of IT Resources- Moving to one segregated database enables the City to reduce IT overhead, while gaining efficiencies in streamlined and consolidated work processes. Each of the two business units can operate independently, with the city having one enterprise reporting solution for all vehicle maintenance.
AssetWorks software is configured to track the 4,700 vehicle units maintained by the city and the nearly 200 revenue and non-revenue vehicles maintained by Mountain Metropolitan Transit, as well as the many bus stops throughout the city. FleetFocus fleet management software tracks all activities related to the acquisition, maintenance and disposal of these vehicles on a single database including work order processing, flexible preventive maintenance scheduling, warranty tracking, and detailed reporting. The system can also improve customer communication through a secure customer access portal or through automated email notifications related to vehicle service and availability.
