ZoomSafer Garners Broad Industry Support to Prevent Distracted Driving

RESTON, Va., Sep 21, 2010 (BUSINESS WIRE) -- ZoomSafer, the leading provider of safe driving software to prevent texting and emailing while driving, announced partnerships with several leading fleet management firms to help corporations reduce risk and liability stemming from employee use of cell phones while driving. ZoomSafer's patented safe driving software integrates easily with existing fleet telematics systems so companies can now simultaneously monitor and manage how employees drive company vehicles and how they use mobile phones when driving.

Several leading telematics providers, including Networkfleet, GPS Insight, Numerex, Orion Security and Walsh Wireless, today announced their support to sell and market FleetSafer software to their government, enterprise and small business customers.

"With 50% of employees admitting to texting and emailing while driving, it's not surprising that distraction is the leading cause of on-the-job crashes, costing employers an average of $100,000 per crash," said Matt Howard, CEO of ZoomSafer. "By working with great companies like these, we are putting FleetSafer solutions within easy reach of corporate customers across the country."

"Our fleet tracking solutions have already saved thousands of customers millions of dollars over the last few years, and the addition of FleetSafer will help us to further reduce crashes and their associated costs," said Robert Donat, Founder and CEO of GPS Insight.

"Our services are centered on reliability, security and trust. Safe driving software is therefore a natural fit for our driver behavior-based applications that focus on improvement in driver safety," said Richard Burtner, SVP of Numerex and GM of its LBS group.

"Improved fleet management can be a competitive edge in today's business environment, and safe driving software like FleetSafer reduces liability and also send a positive corporate social responsibility message to our employees, their families and the community", said Peter Jacobsen, President of Orion Security.

"We're excited to partner with ZoomSafer to ensure that families, mobile professionals, enterprises and small businesses on the Sprint network have access to the leading safe driving software on the market," said Chick Walsh, Chief Strategy Officer of Walsh Wireless. "Preventing distracted driving is important for our clients and for us as well -- we have deployed the software across our organization to keep our employees and the communities in which they live safe."

  1. Distracted Texting and Unsafe Driving is not only Teens but Business Professionals, Corporate Drivers, Adults and Teens
Many of the accidents and deaths in Canada are attributed to distracted drivers. Whether it be eating and drinking, grooming, talking to a passenger and the most prevalent, distractive use of a cell phone. Every province in Canada has legislation that has been introduced except Alberta and that is expected this last quarter of calendar 2010 or first in 2011.
Yes, we still see many business people, professionals, adults, youths and teens still being distracted because they think that they are important and cannot do without answering a call, email or SMS or sending same. What is a life worth, yours or the person or people you hit? What does a non death accident cost apart from the moving violation ticket?
Where does a corporation stand with Safe Driving policy non compliance i.e. liability, safety, risk, accidents and even deaths of employees? Many companies have corporate Safe Driving policies but no ability to monitor, manage nor confirm compliance by their employees. Distracted drivers, please keep in mind that when you are driving and using your cell phone, whether on business or not, day or night, company vehicle or personal, company phone or personal, your company could be responsible and liable if you have an accident using a cell. You might even be disciplined and lose your job, jailed or even be incapacitated so you could not work nor support your family. A heavy toll to pay. Please think of what you are doing.
There is a new safe driving product here in Canada that can eliminate your urge to use your Blackberry by locking your keyboard and screen so no emailing, calls, browsing and most of all TEXTING. From Teen to executive to professional drivers you are covered at each level. For corporations....policy-based reporting to management on illegal cell phone use by company drivers that are not allowed to use hand held devices due to corporate policies. Not a GPS tracking application, but a downloadable cell phone application for eliminating and reducing distracted driving and promoting safe driving.
