ATLANTA
(August 10, 2011) – WHEEGO ELECTRIC CARS, a U.S. manufacturer
of all-electric cars, today unveiled a web page
that helps consumers calculate their ongoing savings by driving an electric car
versus a gas-powered car.
The simple-to-use web page prompts the consumer to enter their
electricity cost per kilowatt-hour, the miles per gallon of their current car,
the cost of gasoline in their area, and the number of miles they drive each
week. The webpage also provides resources to help consumers with electricity and
gasoline costs by state if they aren’t sure of their exact numbers.
The page then displays what it costs per mile to drive their gas
car, what it costs per mile to drive the Wheego LiFe, and their average annual
gas savings. It does not take into account repairs and maintenance, which
would ultimately reflect even higher cost-per-mile savings.
“Prices for electricity vary across the country, as do prices for
gasoline. With this tool, we are giving visitors to our website the ability to
calculate for themselves what they would save by driving a Wheego LiFe compared
to their current car,” explained Wheego CEO Mike McQuary. “In our hometown of
Atlanta, with gas at $3.70 per gallon, a person who chooses to drive the Wheego
LiFe 200 miles per week instead of an SUV that gets 15 miles per gallon, will
save over $2200 per year. We get questions from a lot of people asking how much
their power bill will go up if they install a charging station in their garage.
This website shows the driver exactly what they’ll spend on power per mile. The
cost savings are eye-opening.”
The Wheego LiFe comes fully-equipped with
driver and passenger airbags, anti-lock brakes, power windows and locks, and
optional air conditioning. The 115V lithium battery pack can be charged from a
standard 120V outlet, a 240V outlet or any of the J1772 standard charging
stations being installed in public locations throughout the United States. The
LiFe travels approximately 100 miles on a single charge. It is available in
red, white, blue, black, silver, and green. The Wheego LiFe is a two-seat
subcompact car with fit, finish and features designed for today’s
environmentally-conscious commuters. The Wheego LiFe starts at $32,995,
and qualifies for a $7,500 Federal tax credit as well as many state tax credits
and incentives.
