National Safety Council honors Pella Corporation truckers


PELLA, IOWA — August 10, 2011 — A group of Pella Corporation truck drivers represents a combined195 years of safe driving, or about, 3,250,000 miles traveled without an accident. It’s a driving record that would impress any driver’s ed teacher.

Thirteen Pella Corporation team members who transport Pella® Windows and Doors, and the materials used to manufacture them, have earned recognition from the National Safety Council (NSC) for their longtime leadership in safe transportation.

“Freight transportation is a big part of the Pella business and our outstanding team of drivers helps ensure that Pella delivers windows and doors on time, and that they arrive safely and securely,” said Joe Kendall, who manages Pella’s private carrier trucking fleet.

The NSC — a national safety and health membership organization — recognized 13 Pella Corporation private fleet team members for achieving at least 15 years or 250,000 miles of safe driving without an accident.

Pella Corporation logistics team members honored with the NSC’s “Safe Driver Award of Honor” for their outstanding records include: Scott Collette, Larry DeGraff, Jay De Ronde, Randy Deur, Robert Deur, Darrin Geetings, Dave German, Joe Pyle, Don Rus, Michael Silvers, Kenneth Stouwie, Brad Vander Linden and Scott Collette, Mike Zylstra.

“We’re so proud of these dedicated professionals who understand and obey the rules of the road,” Kendall said. “They’re shining examples for all our drivers.”

Drivers were honored for their performance in safely and efficiently transporting Pella Windows & Doors and materials used by the privately-held, family-owned company headquartered in Pella, Iowa, serving customers throughout North America. This is the second year in a row for Pella Corporation drivers to earn NSC transportation awards.
