Washington, DC
- The nation's largest transportation technology association, the Intelligent
Transportation Society of America (ITS America), today announces it has
partnered with Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers, a leading international
venture capital firm, and Fontinalis Partners, a leading transportation
strategic investment firm co-founded by Bill Ford, to host a special event
worth possibly millions of dollars designed to match innovative transportation
technology companies with potential investors at the 18th World
Congress on Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) in Orlando, FL in October.
This
potential infusion of capital into the economy occurs in the wake of a new
release of the most comprehensive study to date on the scope of the ITS
industry in the United States and North America. The federally commissioned
report
developed by ITS America and IHS Global Insight,
found intelligent transportation to be a fast growing sector and suggested it
will outpace other industries in job creation and revenue growth through at
least 2015. The investor matching sessions will help
ensure that these trends continue. The report also indicated that
cities and states with drastically reduced budgets are turning to technology
solutions to maximize existing highway capacity. It is now available on the ITS
America website.
"Intelligent
transportation is a growing industry that is ripe for investment," said
Scott Belcher, President and CEO of ITS America. "We are excited about
this opportunity to advance transportation technology by pairing innovative new
ideas with the experienced teams at Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers and
Fontinalis Partners."
Interested
companies are encouraged to submit a business plan for evaluation. Information
on how to submit a proposal is available on the ITS
World Congress website. After
thorough review, eight to ten businesses will be invited to make their pitch at
a face-to-face presentation at the World Congress on Intelligent Transportation
Systems in Orlando, FL on Tuesday, October 18, and are also invited to
join private and public sector transportation leaders from around the world at
a special reception later that evening.
The
final date to submit a business plan is Wednesday, August 31, 2011. Please
contact McKenzie Jones at mjones@itsa.org
with
any business related questions about this exciting opportunity.
To
be a part of this growing economic sector, join us in Orlando this October to
experience the cutting-edge of transportation with industry leaders and
decision makers from across the globe. For the latest updates on the event,
