MotorCities National Heritage Area and Wheelhouse Detroit Partner on Heritage Bike Tours

DETROIT, MI - The word on the street is that one of the most fascinating bike tours being given is offered by two Detroit based companies who have partnered to present a new perspective on Detroit's landscape.  MotorCities National Heritage Area and Wheelhouse Detroit are offering a monthly bike tour series based around Detroit's automotive and labor history.  These new tours tell the stories of the people and places that powered the birth and boom of the auto industry over its 100+ year history.

From Olds, to Buick to Fisher to Ford, the footprints of these "Tinkers who became Titans",  have been left here in Detroit. "This tour is a gritty adventure on two wheels, that reveals how Detroit pioneered mass production in a way that revolutionized manufacturing in America," said Nancy Darga, Managing Director, MotorCities National Heritage Area.

The bike tour starts at Wheelhouse Detroit on the Detroit River off Atwater Street.  Full of fun, it is approximately 13 miles long on flat terrain. Tours are from 12:00 pm-3:00 pm.  The cost is $25 ($35.00 with bike rental).  The next tour on August 28 is already sold out.  The final two opportunities for auto tours are Saturday, September 18 and Saturday, October  23.  Reservation are available through Wheelhouse Detroit,  www.wheelhousedetroit.com/tours/
