DEALERS BUILD CONFIDENCE, HOLD GROSS USING CARFAX HISTORY IMPACT

CENTREVILLE, Va. – The Carfax History Impact tool is one of the most successful product enhancements ever for Carfax. By implementing the tool into their sales process over the past several months, dealers are helping customers better understand vehicle value and holding more gross on each sale. In addition, used car shoppers are buying with greater confidence knowing how much the retail book value is adjusted based on vehicle history.

“At Ray Catena, reputation means everything. The Carfax History Impact helps support the reputation we’ve built for providing exceptional value and great customer service,” said Doug Wells, General Manager at Ray Catena Motor Cars. “It substantiates the value we place on our vehicles at retail and on trade, confirming the customer’s decision to buy from us. Most have already looked at the book value, so now we’ll show you what the history is worth, that simple. Bottom line is our customers feel more confident in their buying decision and we’re selling more cars as a result.”

Used car buyers are regularly checking online resources for vehicle information – including values – well before visiting the dealership. Every used vehicle has a unique history that impacts the retail book value. The Carfax History Impact is the first-available value guideline that reflects how much consumers have adjusted the retail book value based on vehicle history information reported to Carfax.

“We use Carfax Vehicle History Reports throughout our entire sales process – all the way from acquisition to retail,” said Kevin Leitterman, Used Car Manager at Jim Butler Chevrolet. “With access to unlimited Carfax Reports, we’re checking the Carfax History Impact on every car we consider putting on our lot to make sure we’re getting the right cars at the right price. Plus, it’s an effective closing tool that supports our asking price and helps us hold more gross. Our customers know and trust Carfax, which gives them even more confidence in our dealership and our vehicles.”

Starting in January, the Carfax History Impact has appeared on all Carfax Vehicle History Reports run by subscribing dealers. Consumers viewing free Carfax Reports linked to online listings or purchasing reports at carfax.com have had access to the tool since late April.
