National Heritage Area is proud to announce the first cycle of its 2012 grant
program. The organization's programs are designed to increase tourism
throughout the State of Michigan; develop and deploy educational and
informational programs that tell the story of the American automobile industry
and labor in our region; and encourage revitalization through conservation.
"These are the times that we must get more creative and pool
our resources to affect change" said Managing Director, Nancy Darga.
"MotorCities has always strived to be the Driving Force and empower our
stakeholders to tell the powerful story of our region."
The MotorCities Challenge
Cost Share Program offers unique opportunities for applicants to garner support
for projects which may span multiple years with complex funding strategies. The
program covers up to 20% of the total project expenses. Projects can include
brick and mortar Projects are not capped, but are subject to available grant
funding at time of review.
Darga said, "The Challenge program taps into the financial
creativity that will bring us all through this rough patch. Michigan, and
particularly the auto-industry, has gone through trying times in the past and
we have been resilient. The reinvestment into our communities can be driven by
our pride in our automotive heritage."
The applications are
available to non-profit, MotorCities member organizations at www.motorcities.org under the grants section. The first
application period of the year closes January 31, 2012 with subsequent periods
