SALT LAKE CITY, UT, Jul 26, 2011 (MARKETWIRE via COMTEX) --
inthinc Technology Solutions Inc., a global telematics company
centered on fleet management and driver safety solutions, today
introduced its technology to thousands of government agencies at
FedFleet 2011 in Orlando, FL. Tailored to meet the needs of federal
agencies that operate fleets of vehicles, the inthinc solution
provides in-cab verbal mentoring that tells drivers if they are
speeding, aren't wearing their seatbelt, or driving aggressively. For
speeding notifications in particular, the inthinc solution includes a
proprietary database of speed limits on every street segment across
the United States. This data, known as Speed-by-Street(TM), enables
verbal speeding notifications to drivers whenever and wherever they
may exceed the posted speed limit -- training better drivers and
decreasing risky behavior.
As many federal agencies operate fleets across a large geographical
area, inthinc fleet management reporting also includes GPS tracking
as well as a live fleet view of where each vehicle is located in real
time. Fleet managers may also set customized geo-zones around a
defined region, enabling automated text or email alerts when drivers
cross the defined boundaries.
"With the increased focus on cutting costs throughout the various
government entities, we have made an effort to help fleet managers
drive down expenses by providing drivers with the ability to operate
their vehicles more efficiently," said Todd Follmer, CEO, inthinc
Technology Solutions. "Reducing speeding and aggressive driving
reduces fuel consumption while at the same time increasing safety for
each driver."
The inthinc solution also provides government fleet managers with
regional or individual driver scorecards -- a rating based on driver
behavior. In addition, with tens of thousands of vehicles using
inthinc, customers typically reduce fleet-wide speeding by over 80
percent within the first month of using the system. Combine that
efficiency with the additional fuel consumption savings gained via
idle time mentoring and inthinc customers typically pay for the
system within a few months after implementation -- not to mention the
marked decrease in carbon emissions.
inthinc is currently showcasing its solutions at FedFleet 2011, booth
#1505. inthinc solutions are now available on the U.S. General
Services Administration schedule (contract number:GS-07F-0614X).
